Home and Scrapped February = Love Blog Hop....

Love and the Summertime is in the air and it's Cybercrop time over at Home and Scrapped.

Welcome to our first ever blog hop. You have probably come to me from Mary B's blog and will venture on to Sarah shortly.
I'm not exactly sure what the lovely Heather has up her sleeve but I do know it involves a RAK prize of a special pack of handmade flowers made by the lovely Heather herself and if you are the lucky winner and want to buy some for yourself then you better head over here to see the kind of flowers you can choose from.

Okay, so it's February the month of love so here is my quirky love quote to share with you:

“We're all a little weird, and when we find someone who's weirdness is comparable with each others weirdness, we fall in a mutual weirdness and we call it love!”
Dr. Seuss

I like Dr Seuss, what can I say.....

Now Heather wants me to share four interesting/little known things about myself...... Hmmm.... what to choose?

1. I dislike the colour purple after spending so many years in a bedroom in various shades of the colour.
2. The taste and smell of coriander is not to my liking.
3. I like to watch America's/ Australia's/ Brittain and Ireland's etc. Next Top Model.
4. Early mornings and I do not get along.

Hope they are a few things you did not know about me....

If you are collecting the words along the blog hop you probably want to know the word: OF
I'm sure it will make a lot of sense to you once you have done all the other hops along the way but for me at the time of writing I have not got the faintest idea what it is all about. Guess that is Heather's way of making us all go and visit everyone else's blog..... he,he,he....

Just to keep you occupied over the weekend and make sure you have stuck with reading so far, I am offering a RAK myself. If you complete a layout in any of our challenges over the weekend and make a card from the scraps, your name will go in the hat for a random draw for every card that you make. The key is to mention you are entering Melissa's RAK challenge when you upload your photo to the gallery and also in the challenge thread where you can add the photo of your card.  At the end of the CC I will draw a winner.

Now keep on moving to Sarah's blog where you can find out the next parts of those tricky pieces of information for Heather.

My challenge for you at Home and Scrapped........

Pop over to Home and Scrapped and have some fun with us this weekend getting your scrapping mojo going with some great Cyber crop challenges.

Now the theme of the Cyber crop is Love and the Summertime and my take on the theme is a little different. So, my challenge to you is:

To choose your own recipe, using one item or technique from each letter category below:

L - Lace, Layering or the word "Love"
O - Ovals, the colour orange or an opening (peekaboo or for hidden journaling)
V - Vintage style, vellum or violet (colour or flower permitted)
E - embossing (dry or wet). eyelets or edging scissors.

The layout can be based on any topic as long as you use one of the items from each letter group and tell us what you have used when you upload to the gallery.

My example here uses layering, ovals, vellum flowers and embossing both on the vellum and the words on the cardstock. The photos are my new Argentinian granddaughter who was born just before Christmas. Some really old stash used on this layout too which was nice to see the light of day for a change.

Come on over and see what Liz, Karen and Kerri have up to challenge us all too.

Happy Scrappin'..........

Cybercrop is on its way.......

Get ready for some extra fun this month - our first Cyber Crop of the year at Home and Scrapped is almost here! At Home, we have a CC every other month, and this month the lovely new DT are cooking up some great challenges for you....... me included.
Make sure you have plenty of photos, pretty papers and glue, and get ready for some fun.

It all starts with a Step-by-step challenge this Friday night from 6pm EST. and then runs until Wednesday midnight to have plenty of time to play along. The DT will put up challenges on Saturday morning so you can pick and choose if you have time to play along and only do a couple of challenges... although we would like you to join all of them.
Just for a little extra fun there will be a blog hop to get to know some of our members. So, make some time to come and join us and get a kick into the new year with your scrapping.

A month of creativity and other stuff.....

The lovely Heather over at Home and Scrapped has created a month of items/tasks to boost our creativity for the month. For a small fee you can play along and have some fun. I decided to join in the fun and whilst I don't get to it everyday, I can do little bits here and there.

This layout is my create - 3 layout from a sketch of Heather's. The journaling tells how Keelan had spent the night on the bedroom floor as he wasn't feeling well and when Dad got out of bed in the morning he woke him enough to get him to move to the bed. We both slept until late in the morning as we were so tired from the late night and interrupted sleep. Dad of course could not resist a photo of us before he left for work.

The card is from the create - 2 task to work with watercolours and various techniques to create background papers for our layouts and cards. The orange label area is from orange and pink water colours and left to dry with sea salt sprinkled in places. The greeting is an old freebie from a magazine and the stamps are from Basic Grey and Stampin' Up.

The create-1 activity related to stamping some strips to use on a layout. I pulled out some old Provocraft stamps that would have been from the earliest clear stamp sets I bought. I used the flowers and leaves I had never used before. I'm not so fond of the page I completed but it did work well with the photos.

My last layout is Liz's challenge for the month to use a mask and misting, bling and a heart with a layout about something/someone you love. I used the Creative Jump Start Technique from Heidi Swapp by using the negative die-cut heart and a Crafter's workshop template - cosmic swirl. Loving how this turned out with the crazy photo of Mitchell at Chiaki's yum-cha breakfast with the newly-weds families and friends.

Need to get myself organised for a retreat for the weekend after next so better be off and do some planning otherwise I will have to take my whole scrap room.

Have fun and happy craftin'.......

My New DT spot

Hi all, I have joined the DT for the next four months over at Home and Scrapped.
For my first challenge for the month of February, I have given everyone an easy start with a colour challenge to get their creative juices flowing.

I found this interesting colour pallette over at Colourlovers

Lillymon
Color by COLOURlovers
I have challenged the interested parties to create a layout in their theme of choice using a minimum of three colours from the pallette. Here is my example page: (hmmm.... the greens don't quite photograph the same when you have the pallette next to it)

Which colours would you choose to create with from the pallette?

Why don't you join us over at Home and Scrapped and play along for fun....
Happy Craftin'
