Snip, Snap, Crop

It has been a slow year for scrapping for me, I just haven't been able to get into it much and life has been busy with other things such as searching for work and caring for family and furry friends.   This is all I have managed for the year to date:       A step -by-step challenge from Heather at Home & Scrapped. I loved how this came together and now just have to get myself together to finish off another pair of photos with a similar treatment.   A sketch from Heather above and  colour challenge below.       These two are examples for my own challenges put up in the last two months. Above is a "Pick your own" challenge where I provided a list of items to choose from and people could choose the items they wished to use.   Below was a moodboard challenge with colours and Moroccan style theme with layered embellishments. Just a little fun and some old photos of my guys.   Happy craftin'....

The poor blog does get neglected at times. We bought a dog last month so getting him settled along with school holidays and job hunting has been a busy and not so creative time for me. So, I'm here to share my layouts that I did back in September as I didn't get around to doing any in October. First is the Step-by step challenge designed by Heather Waldron at Home and Scrapped. A pic of my lovely Mum who passed away back in 2006 taken at my niece's wedding with a family member visiting from England. Lots of little bits and pieces from my stash used up on this one. Heather also gave us a sketch to use which I turned on its side and then made another companion page to go with it with the rest of the photos from the day.    The technique challenge for the month was to stamp a background of circles of varying sizes using items from around our home. I found a sellotape centre and noodle cup in my recycling basket and they became the basis of my stampi...

Just a few layouts done so far for August as my focus has been on cards and procrastination. The first, a layout from Heather's challenge to pull a range of strips of paper out of your stash and make a layout with them and to include a bird somewhere. This was inspired by a Pagemaps sketch from Feb 2014. Next a layout for a colour challenge using a photo of a person on a beach holding a red and white umbrella on an overcast rainy day. You can imagine the tones of grey in that sky and beach scene. Jewels took us out of our comfort zone with an SBS using patterned papers. I'm not a big mixer of patterned papers, I'm a plain cardstock user with a hint of pp thrown in for good balance. I am really happy with how this turned out and used up some old papers that have been in my stash for about 6-7yrs. A card for my Sister's request for a person who likes red, aqua and doing mosiacs. I love how this ended up after lots of cutting up of scraps.  ...

Heather gave us a step-by-step challenge to complete last week over at Home and Scrapped so we received a step each day which gave us a nice chance to take it easy and complete a layout. I love the results of it and the papers were what I won at Odette's stamp camp last year so I got to play a little. I found lots of little bits in my stash that matched the colours and played to my hearts content. A card from the scraps, in case you couldn't guess - inspired by a sketch from Cardmaps 3 Page 68 which I received in my mailbox last month. More of the red and white Christmas cards for my card order.                                                    I am really enjoying these as I do really like Christmas cards and trying to include using some of my new tools and stamps.
