Step-by-step challenge and a couple more cards...........

Image
Heather gave us a step-by-step challenge to complete last week over at Home and Scrapped so we received a step each day which gave us a nice chance to take it easy and complete a layout. I love the results of it and the papers were what I won at Odette's stamp camp last year so I got to play a little. I found lots of little bits in my stash that matched the colours and played to my hearts content. A card from the scraps, in case you couldn't guess - inspired by a sketch from Cardmaps 3 Page 68 which I received in my mailbox last month. More of the red and white Christmas cards for my card order.                                                    I am really enjoying these as I do really like Christmas cards and trying to include using some of my new tools and stamps. Thanks for dropping by and Happy Craftin'.......

June challenges... and it's still in June!

Image
I have had a lovely lady order some cards from me so have been working on these slowly but surely for her. Many are duplicates in some way of what she has seen on my blog as I suggested she look through my blog and choose what she liked so I could get a feel for her preferences.  Here are some I have done so far: These are a batch of 3" x 4" gift cards that are similar to the ones I made slightly larger last year. A couple of men's cards using Kaisercraft Rewind papers from the 6" x 6" pad which I am almost out of now. These were great papers for masculine cards.  And finally the beginning of her request for 10 Christmas cards in red and white. Over to the June challenges at Home and Scrapped..... This is the challenge from Heather to  scrap someone close to you, and finish these two sentences for your journaling, in any way that is right for you:  Every time I think of you ..... (I smile perhaps, or I feel faint with desi...

May Challenges and cards.......

Image
Just catching up with my blog that I have sadly forgotten again for a few weeks. My time has been redirected in job hunting and updating my CV, Microsoft Office skills and filling out forms for various clearances that are required these days here in SA, having been made redundant from my role at the end of May. I did get a little scrapping done in May but not a lot. Our little Ning community  of Home and Scrapped is being moved to a Facebook group now so we are still challenging each other with different inspiration for the month but just using a different platform which is probably more accessible for most. Heather challenged us to make inchies in a theme of our choice and use them on a layout so having recently returned from a trip to Sydney where we went to Madame Tussaud's the use of some music themed inchies was going to be easy. Our second challenge for the month was a colour challenge so I kept it simple and just went with the colours that fitted my photos. ...

April challenges and more......

April was a quiet month of scrapping for me again but I did manage to do some layouts from a kit I bought last year. This is a Crate Paper kit designed by Rachel Lowe which I purchased through All things Paper in Fremantle. A rare thing for me to buy a pre-designed kit but this one had four layouts that appealed to me so for a change I did.    Me at 19yrs with my Mum at Adelaide airport arriving home after my 11 months living in Indonesia on my AFS Intercultural Exchange. Keelan in a park at Margaret River. Mitchell on a beach at Busselton. The 4th layout I did a few months back and shared. I still have enough left of the kit for another layout or two so will have to put my thinking cap on to use the last of it. On to the challenges for April at Home and Scrapped: I set a challenge for the girls last month to use a colour blocking tutorial I found at Splitcoast Stampers in some way on a layout or card. This was the example I came up with putting my ne...

Yay, I scrapped.....

Finally I have found five minutes (or maybe more) to gather some papers and do some layouts. It has been a few months since I have done any challenges so I went to my usual haunt at Home and Scrapped and played along with Heather's sketch challenge for the month of March with one of her own sketches. I kept it simple and used scraps from a Lime Rickey kit that I still had in my stash. A couple of little extra embellishments to finish it off, some landing in not the exact position I planned but never mind, it still works. Angie challenged us to use a TV ad tagline as a title for our layout and I came across this Gillette one from a few years ago which went perfectly for this "sharp" photo of hubby in his suit for work. Just goes to show you that you can look everywhere for inspiration for a title. I challenged the girls to make some cards with scraps and using the Pagemaps - Jan 2014 Cardmaps so thought I would do some myself. I'm not entirely happy wi...

A very delayed welcome to the New Year........

Image
Hello all and welcome to 2014! It is a very delayed post for the year as I have moved from Western Australia back to Adelaide over the past two months so packing and storage, followed by unpacking and trying to set up the old house has taken up my time.   I found some time recently to create a couple of cards as my Sister requested a card for the 30th Anniversary celebration of a group that she used to be involved with. Her criteria for me was pink and roses. Well, roses was a challenge in itself as I don't own much in the way of roses as I'm not a real floral girl. I did however remember my Manhattan Flower embossing folder from Stampin' Up so I tried a couple of techniques that I had been wanting to have a go with for a while.    This first card was using the embossing folder on watercolour paper and brayering Versamark across the raised image and wet embossing with clear powder. I then cut out the area that I wanted to use and c...

Last of my cards for Combat cards for the year.......

Image
My last crop night for the year I didn't feel like scrapping so I took along this pack of chipboard toppers that were free with the Australian Simply cards magazine a short time ago. I found some old papers in my stash that matched the colours, found a couple of card maps and had a play. I had a couple of sticker sheets for greetings as I forgot to take my stamps and I think they came out kind of cute. Not likely to be blogging before Christmas so to all my friends and family have a lovely Christmas and New Year and make sure you take some time out to be creative in the New Year. Melissa
