MERRY CHRISTMAS

I know it is a few days early but just in case I don't get back before the big day then I'm saying Merry Christmas early.

My online class with Penny went wonderfully well on Friday night but I can't share it with you all yet as the class will be repeated on the 10th of January. It was lots of cutting but well worth it for the results.

I had to laugh because as I was gathering my things to prepare for the class Keelan was sitting with me and asking lots of questions and I was explaining how he could not disturb me later that night as I was doing a "class" via the computer. He asked what is was about so I explained that we had lots of flowers and stems to cut out so he thought he would like to try that even though I was not certain of all that was to be done. I found a paper for him that had some flowers and leaves to cut out and here is his interpretation of what he thought I was meaning.

He even found some green and used my decorative scissors to cut the stems and then used my Cricut Storybook Cartridge to cut the owl and colour it with watercolour pencils.
He found a stamp that he wanted to use that he thought looked like flowers and used that across the bottom.
I was so impressed!
The only help I gave him was how to use the Aquash brush to paint and helping find an acrylic block that was almost big enough for the stamp. He did the rest all himself.
On Saturday we went over to my sister's house to help clean some toys up for the kids to use at the family Christmas party. They did a great job helping.
Sunday we were late for the Christmas party as the darlings all decided they wanted to scrapbook whilst I was trying to cut fruit and vegetables for platters and salads. I haven't taken photos of those ones yet. My Kindyglitz was getting a workout in my absence so I went out today and bought some Texta brand glitter glue pens for their personal use.
Haven't felt too fantastic today so I have taken it a little easy and only went out to the chiro and to pick up a last minute Christmas gift and some shopping for food that I missed on my Bananablue order last week. No more now - if I haven't got it now I ain't getting it!
Now, if you are looking for something to do scrapbook wise next weekend, Heaven-Sent is running a Cyber crop. Challenges will go up on Christmas day and you have until the Monday midnight to upload your work. Out with the old, In with the new is the theme for the crop so I'm looking forward to what will be in store for us.
Merry Christmas all! Don't drink and eat too much will you......

Just one more week....

My boys are counting down the days until Christmas now and have already told each other what they bought for each other. I might as well have just taken them all out together to buy for each other, instead of making the special effort spending time with each of them at the shops.

We haven't done a lot this week. I have done lots of sleeping in which has been nice and stayed up and watched Survivor final. I was a little disappointed that Parvati won, I was hoping that Amanda would.

Monday I had someone out to test the pipes in our ensuite shower as the carpet is going mouldy in the room that backs onto the shower. Yes, there is certainly lots of moisture in the walls but it appears to be from the taps leaking back into the wall again and the fact that some of the tiles are cracked and grout missing and not sealed properly. This was all supposed to be fixed a few years ago when this happened so I'm not really impressed and our insurance is not likely to cover very much of the fix. Frustration!

I have managed to get a little scrapbooking done for the week and some cards..... however most of it is for my DT work so I can't share it until the 1st of January. I will however share my layouts for the challenges so far at Heaven-Sent.

Ingeborg's sketch challenge

Karen's 5,4,3,2,1 challenge

Yesterday I took Mitchell into diabetes clinic. A visit we make very three months. His HbA1c is still a little higher than I would like but the Endocrinologist is still very happy with it. I even ran into a girl I used to go to school with in Kadina whilst we were there. Her son is 11 yrs old and has had diabetes since he was 21 months old. He says he doesn't know life any other way so it doesn't bother him as it is just his life. It is nice to chat with others going through it at times just to compare thoughts and ideas.

I am supposed to be finishing off my Christmas card writing as I am a little late with my overseas ones. I was also going to do some baking but still trying to convince myself on that one.

Tomorrow night I am looking forward to an online class with the lovely Penny Hackney.

If you are interested it is on tomorrow night and repeated on the 10th of January. See here for cost and payment details etc.:

Go check it out!

I have stalled on my Octoberfest layouts at the moment as I have put all the instructions in a display book along with the photos I printed to go with them and can't for the life of me remember where I have put the folder. I am so annoyed with myself as I was going to catch up with a few this week. Never mind, I will find it when I am looking for something else.

Newsletter PDF

If you are looking for my bi-monthly newsletter to catch up on the dates of when I am cropping over the school holidays, you can find it here:

http://www.adrive.com/public/2104f8f6e7402e39fec28c4fca3a69cf23f9919a77124da9f6142a2dd92ddef0.html

It is a PDF, so not fantastically clear with the images but you can read all the info.

An award?

Well thank you to the lovely Moira who has kindy given me the kreative blogger award.

I can now proudly post this award on my blog, and hand it on to some other talented ladies.

First is the amazing Leah Fung. Now, I loved watching this scrapbooker on the daily scrapbook lifestyle videos that used to be available to watch on podcasts from BHG. I used to miss my daily dose of these after they stopped them and googled Leah's name to keep up with her creative works. I love how she has kept videos going from her blog along with the talented Donna Salazar and Johanna Peterson.

Second is Penny Hackney, who does some magnificent work with doodling and her own creative style. She also blogs over at Aussie Scrapbooking and runs some cool online classes.

Third, is our S.A. Fiskars Ambassador, Michelle Wallace whom I love to see produce a variety of work particularly with the lovely Heidi Grace and Clound 9 products. I have great fun attending Fiskars crops here in Adelaide with her.

Fourth, the lovely MadScraps owner, Mistra. With a style all of her own and artistic in her uses of mixed media I really enjoy dropping by her blog to catch up on her news and see her stunning art.

And lastly, Heather, a fellow member over at the Scrapwitch forum. She amazes me sometimes with the amount of layouts and cards that she has a go at, and completes in a weekend. I swear she scraps more in a week sometimes than I do in a month. With all the inspiration from our Scrapwitch owner Jill though, who could blame her for getting things done.

Here are the rules:
1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.
2. Put a link to the person who sent you the award.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Provide links to their blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

Busy, busy......

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of hearing Keelan's and a Reception class sing Christmas carols at our local shopping centre. He really enjoyed it and was very excited about it all but I know that some of the students were worried sick about it. All those years of dance concerts have paid off for them.

One of the songs they sang was the Aussie version of the twelve days of Christmas. How hilarious is that! It was the first time I had heard it and with the little ones singing it and their actions along with it, it had us in fits of laughter.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, My true love sent to me:

Twelve possums playing

Eleven lizards leaping

Ten wombats washing
Nine crocs a-snoozing
Eight dingos dancing

Seven emus laying
Six sharks a-surfing

Five kangaroos

Four lyrebirds
Three wet galahs
Two snakes on skis

and

A kookaburra in a gum tree

Friday night the boys had a chance to visit with their big brother whilst Bruce and I went to his work cocktail party. It was at a hotel at Glenelg and looked out over the beach. Nice food, pleasant conversation, when you could hear over the DJ's music and good dancing.

On Saturday we had won two tickets for entry to see if you can guess where......!

That's right - Adelaide Zoo. We lined up for entry as the tickets were for a special kids event on the day. We started off with two tickets in hand and through the kindness of people around us, by the time we made it to the gate all four of us had tickets and it didn't cost me a thing. To add to that the kids got a drink and nibblies at the gate so I didn't even purchase food once inside because I had taken some biscuits with me. The kids had a great time taking photos and I came home with about 150 photos between two cameras. Funnily enough there is about 10 photos of just meerkats so Ethan obviously took a liking to them.

I went out to a crop for a cure on Saturday night and left the boys to their own devices watching "Horton hears a Who" on Blu ray. Well from what I hear.... they actually put the movie on for Dad to watch and snooze in front of. Not sure what time they got to bed.

I completed some cards and notecards and box sets for the teachers thank you gifts but "dill" me forgot to photograph them before giving them away today.

Sunday was a relax day - got up late and then went out to the front garden to tidy up. You can now actually see the front path to walk up to the front door. It's amazing!

I have a pile of plans for the layouts I want to do for the Heaven-Sent and puzzlesketches challenges for the month but have been so busy writing Christmas cards and typing up a year in review for the overseas family that I haven't got anywhere near starting them yet. The laundry is still waiting to be sorted also.... and some floors washed that didn't get done yesterday. Oh well, they will still be there tomorrow!

Here are the challenges for the month from Heaven-Sent:

This month there are three different card making and scrapbooking competitions. All the details of the December Competitions can be found on our forum. The winner of each competition will win a $ 10.00 gift voucher for the store. Please upload your entries in the December Competition Gallery. Happy scrapping!

Boy's Lego video

Well this is the video that was created on Sunday afternoon. The boys think it is hilarious! Gotta love boys and their sense of humour.

I have to admit that I was challenged by getting it to upload to youtube and attaching to here. It was not as easy as I thought. Anyway, it's done and they are happy for a couple of months now until they decide it's a good idea to do another.

Personally, I've been getting my very short newsletter for December and January done. I've also completed one of my DT layouts for January - still 2 to go and I've been trying to plan Xmas gifts and lunch with my elder sons.

Today my agenda is writing and posting Xmas cards and eating out - Mexican style tonight.

Enjoy your day!
