The last few.........

Image
As we are about to head off on a family holiday for a couple of weeks, I have managed to squeeze in a few more cards from the Online card class. This card was one of the inking techniques from Day 7 cards with reverse stamps, where JJ Bolton encouraged us to think outside the box with our stamps and use the back of a clear stamp for a solid image if we don't have a stamp that will do the trick. Here I have used a Kaisercraft stamp from the pack your bags collection to stamp the bauble colour and then white embossed with the snowflake image from the free HOTP Enchanted Christmas collection that came with the Simply Cards magazine last month. The greeting is and added club member freebie from The Stamps of Life. This card is from the same day of lessons and an idea from Jennifer McGuire showing us how to do "inner masking" with a background stamp. Now I had to use her second option to create the same effect as the post it note did not work like her eclipse masking

Holiday cards on the brain......

Well I feel like I've been dreaming holiday cards lately with all the wonderful ideas from the Online class. Wish I had time to try them all.     This is Day 5 share with a design from Shari Carroll using stamps and die sets but I didn't have any of those so I used a die-cut from the Paper Dolls Cricut Cartridge and stamped on it and on the scraps of paper. It still worked.    Bonus day2 saw some ideas from Debby Hughes to use stamps and/or die-cuts that didn't relate to Christmas and use them for holiday cards. Above is a cut from the Beyond Birthdays cartridge that I have cut apart and glittered, then below is a lily stamp from The Stamps of Life froggy2love set. I white embossed on plain vellum and coloured the back with Whispers markers. An old flourish from Accu-cut that I have had for several years and rarely used along with a little bling came up with a nice card I reckon. The greeting is a magazine freebie by HOTP.    Last but not least i

And the holiday cards keep a comin'.....

It's just a couple of shares this time. I am up to day 5 and have duplicated Kristina's card share for the day using perfect pearls. I have taken the word stamp from the Kaisercraft Be Merry collection and used perfect pearls with it and then cut it out using Spellbinders nestablilities Labels 8 that I bought not long ago. As I didn't have any background stamps I used my new embossing folder also - Cuttlebug, Victoria. On the green card I used some versamark over the pattern and then embossed it with a polysparkle embossing powder which is clear with a hint of glitter and I love the way it looks IRL.   The second card is from Day 3 - idea from Julie Ebersole. I used the one and only Christmas word embossing folder I own and distressed  the image with markers, white acrylic paint, distress ink - antique linen and finally sprayed it with perfect pearl spray. I should have stopped before adding the spray because it sprayed really blotchy this time and kind of distracted

Having fun with the holiday cards.........

Making some time to play and get a card a day made is actually quite a challenge for me considering I am working from my stash and have to work around ways to create a card with things I don't own.   This first card is a design from Jennifer McQuire where she showed us how to make a window card and stamp with a background stamp over all the layers. I didn't have a background stamp but I played with the Kaisercraft music background just stamping several times. The bauble is from the Gingerbread Cricut cartridge which I have not long ago bought and the card, and front are cut using the Cricut Craft Room to design and then the edges of the card base are carefully done with my Fiskars Scalloped edge border punch. Greeting from the Stampin' Up Contempo Christmas set.  This second card Kristina had us playing on Day three with making our own backgrounds using a scoreboard. I don't own one so I used my trusty Fiskars trimmer and embossing stylus to create my bac

As I mentioned in my previous post I signed up for the Online Holiday Card Workshop with  Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner which you will see the result starting  towards the bottom of my post. I thought, "no worries", a card a day, I can handle that...... LOL! Well we get a few more than a card a day of ideas and I'm already not keeping up. It's a good thing it will be accessible for a long time to come as I could still be working on them post Christmas for next year and beyond.   Last weekend I went to a Friday night crop and spent the weekend doing a Cybercrop over at Home and Scrapped. It was the last for the year and I really enjoyed taking some time out for myself.    Suzanne challenged us to make a background that had to emphasize the theme of our photos so I have some great stamps from Stephanie Barnard that looked similar in design to the paper flowers that were at King's Park so I played along with those and coloured them with Whispers mar
